I was looking through the Monday edition of Investors Business Daily. (8-23-99) They list the results of several mutual funds including Fidelity Select Technology. One of the Top New Buys is 450,000 shares of Ebay. Front Page of the second section. I made money on Ebay when it was going down and lost when Mary Meeker came out with her little piece after the conference call. I am currently long using options and feel comfortable. Everyone should be cognizant of several things.

1) Ebay announced that they are holding a series of news releases and have only released one. Ebay a go-go.

2) They have not said the outages are over, but are planning on having everything fixed by 4th quarter.

3) Henry Blodgett came out with his Christmas basket of stocks. Does anyone really think that Mary Meeker and other internet analysts will sit by and not try to get some thunder? Do you think Ebay will not be mentioned positively?

I think the stock carries a rich valuation. However, who can argue that they have the ultimate internet business model. I read soem shorts writing about a site called Gold's. Give me a break! I may not have heard of all the sites, but I have never heard of this site. I do't see big auction players leaving Ebay over $1. Think about that paltry amount of money. If anything, the added $1 will add to revenues and decrease the amount of maintenance necessary to maintain the site.

Sorry for the rambling, but I want to see something really negative happen before I sell my calls and buy some puts.

imo the global ramifications of ebay will allow it to grow into it's market cap,,it could create a global flea market, where the same goods could be sold over and over and also new items,,when they bulid their brand name globally it will be the only place to go..>>

Interesting to note that first resistance test we will have on this recovery starts around the 130 range, last time EBAY was there was when you made this post. Now you are bearish.
