Re the article headlined "More than 2m will lose jobs in official shake-up". I sure wish that could be done here; the local civil service is bloated beyond belief. Never happen, though. Too much clout there.

One doesn't wish for authoritarian government, but there are times when a government with some authority - and some decisiveness - would be nice.

G'day Ron & all - well, maybe China considered it's a wash. NATO accidentally bombed her embassy in Belgrade and their officials intentionally pushed one of the US citizens from the 3rd floor while in detention

[note: claiming Mr Daja Meston was hurt in an attempt to escape is the most absurd thing. Granted he is fluent in Tibetan, there is no way for a foreigner probably no as good in Chinese even if he knew it to escape from China from where he was, so it doesn't make any sense whatsoever escape is a plausible explanation.]

I think not only China may end up kissing WTO goodbye, there is a possible backlash against the Worldbank, who has overruled the objection of Secretary Summer and 60 senators in the lending deal

[note: sorry I am still in the pi*sy mood!]

best, Bosco
