maybe, I got the impression HP doesn't really worry about the IA64- if they get it ok, if not - they will move on without it.

HP will do what is necessary. I understand that if HP doesn't get the Merced when they feel they need it, they will move on without it.

That is the attitude I got from reading the past and present responses. I think that is where the differences may be. HP saying that if the Merced is too late (don't know what is too late) they have other plans. If Merced fits, they will use it.

In summary, I don't think HP is basing their future on the Merced.
I think HP was trying to say, we will give our customers the best- the best being Merced or 8500 or 8700 or whatever is the best at the time. If it is Merced- great.

We shall see.
