Sonny,

Globex is up this morning, whatever that means. I think that there is a correlation with how the market will turn out, but it is about 0.6 only.

I say some of the controversy on the AOL thread. I rarely if ever read that thread because it is populated by the true believers, who believe that either AOL represents something akin to the next coming or that AOL is the short of the century. They brook no disagreement or discussion.

Options expiry is always iffy, and you are right - Friday was fairly painless. Dell drifted down a bit. I don't believe the talk about no rate hike. Greenspan prefers a "pre-emptive strike" whenever he can. Others will disagree with me, but I think he's been the stock market's friend more than foe.

The Texas coast is receiving a battering, but so far it isn't as bad as some storms. Let's keep our fingers crossed; it seems that there are more disasters these days than before. Could it be that news reporting is the difference, or is it really true that more disasters are occurring?

There is a lot of unhappiness in Turkey about the government's response to the earthquake. Not too surprising in a disaster that might claim 40,000 lives, but there's more to what they are saying. It's impossible for me to tell from here, but I do know that there's a lot of suffering.
