Bruce,

It's good to know that you're living in Europe bringing us a new perspective. Too bad that you're not in touch with front office customers considering that's a rapidly growing segment of the adopters.

You asked about other front office companies. When I first started following the sector a couple years ago I identified the top ten publicly traded companies by revenue. They were (in alhpabetical order) Astea, Clarify, Dendrite, Information Management, Pegasystems, Remedy, Scopus, Siebel, Software Artistry and Vantive. Scopus has since been bought by Siebel and Software Artisty was bought by Tivoli, a division of IBM.

I don't follow the stocks not in my front office game any more, mostly because they have virtually no chance in becoming a gorilla in my opinion.

One other very interesting company worth watching is Peregrine Systems which competes somewhat with Remedy. It's a very well run company that deals more with network management than pure front office stuff. The company was founded by the same guy who founded BMC.
