New Quicken Products Enable Users to See Tax and Planning Implications of Investing Decisions
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 1999--Intuit, Inc. (Nasdaq:INTU - news), the leader in personal and small business finance software, today announced Quicken Deluxe® 2000 for Windows and the rest of its Quicken 2000 product family.
The Quicken 2000 products arrive just in-time to assist reeling investors during the current massive stock market correction this summer that has seen more than $1.3 trillion in stock market wealth vanish in less than a month.(1)
Quicken 2000 products include numerous new features and product enhancements to help consumers make more informed investing decisions and see the estimated or projected impact of those decisions on the rest of their finances. The products feature a streamlined user interface as well as enhanced integration with Intuit's industry-leading Quicken.com Website,TurboTax® and WebTurboTax(SM) products. Intuit has also included all the functionality of Quicken Financial Planner(tm)into Quicken 2000 Deluxe.
''The Bull market and the Internet are driving investors to take more direct control over their investments,'' said Bill Harris, CEO, Intuit, Inc. ''But many investors and would-be investors say they need help in making smarter investing choices. Quicken 2000 products provide the best tools available to help users invest wisely and take advantage of today's volatile investing climate.''
Helps Users Make Better Investing Decisions Quicken 2000 helps users decide how to invest to meet their specific goals and provides them with a better understanding of how their investments are doing. Quicken 2000 also leverages its online capabilities through Quicken.com, a leading online provider of free financial news, advice and information, to help users gather financial data into Quicken quickly and easily.
According to experts, maintaining a balanced portfolio of stocks, bonds and money markets is more important to an investor's long-term success than picking the right stock. Quicken 2000 includes a number of tools to help users manage this process.
A new Asset Allocation Guide helps users pick a target asset allocation then demonstrates how the user's current allocation compares to the target. A new Asset Allocation Monitor alerts users when their portfolio is out of balance and a Portfolio Rebalancer automatically calculates the adjustments a user must make to get their asset allocation back on track.
With the online Stock Evaluator users can learn, through a comprehensive, step-by-step guide, various ways to analyze stocks. Users can also track employee stock options in Quicken and include them in their net worth.
With a single click of a mouse, Quicken users can now download their investment data from 14 of the nation's largest brokers and mutual fund companies -- representing 80 percent of the electronic online investing marketplace.
Helps Users Understand the Tax Implications of Investing
Decisions Quicken 2000 helps users make better tax decisions throughout the year by helping them understand their current tax situation and illustrating how they can maximize deductions and minimize surprises at tax time.
A Tax Withholding Estimator helps users see at a glance, their projected year-end tax situation and whether they are currently over- or under-withholding. A new Itemized Deduction Estimator is an interactive planner that helps users address their top tax concerns and maximize their deductions by allowing them to estimate the bottom line impact of taking certain deductions.
To help users plan for taxes throughout the year, Quicken 2000 lets users automatically import TurboTax data into Quicken. The imported TurboTax data integrates with Quicken to further help users proactively manage their tax situation. New capital gains, withholding and small business Tax Alerts will now notify users when tax-sensitive events occur so they can take action during the year.
At tax time, users can file taxes at no charge using WebTurboTax, Intuit's Web-based tax preparation service that brings the full power of TurboTax to the Web.
Helps Users Plan for the Future Quicken Deluxe 2000 integrates the functionality of Intuit's award-winning Quicken Financial Planner, but with a new approach that enables users to plan only for those events that are relevant to their situation.
A series of step-by-step Life Event Planners guides users through the planning process for specific life events such as retirement, college, home purchase, debt reduction and more. A new Planning Center provides an overall picture of a user's financial situation and helps the user establish goals, find answers to specific questions, and play ''what if'' scenarios to see how changing one goal could affect their overall plan.
To help keep a user's plan current and accurate Quicken 2000 lets users download car and home values to find out the price range of vehicles or similar homes in their area. (Home values are not available in all areas and car values are not available for all models.)
Quicken 2000 users can also track their expenses while away from home with LandWare, Inc.'s PocketQuicken® for Palm organizers, then automatically update Quicken 2000 data with Palm's HotSync feature when they return home.
Easier to Use than Ever A new streamlined user interface improves overall navigation within Quicken 2000. New menus are organized around key areas of personal finance, while improved QuickTabs -- one of the most popular Quicken features -- provides single-click access to the most frequently used features. An enhanced Reports and Graphs Center, as well as improved online account setup and account overviews, have also been added to make managing finances in Quicken 2000 even easier than in previous versions.
Quicken Home & Business 2000 for Windows Quicken Home & Business combines all of the features in Quicken Deluxe 2000 with added tools and functionality to help users track their business and personal finances even more effectively.
