SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Brocade Communications Systems,
Inc. (BROCADE(R)) (Nasdaq: BRCD), the leading supplier of Fibre Channel fabric
solutions for Storage Area Networking, announced today that SGI (NYSE: SGI)
has signed an OEM agreement to incorporate BROCADE's new class of Fibre
Channel switches and software, the BROCADE SilkWorm(R) 2400 and 2800, into
SGI's real-world, heterogeneous Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions. SGI
expects to ship the first SilkWorm-enabled SAN solutions to its customers
later this year.
The SilkWorm family connects servers with storage devices through a Fibre
Channel SAN and allows companies to access and share storage in a
high-performance, manageable, and scalable environment. Through this OEM
relationship, customers of SGI Storage Area Networking solutions gain a
high-performance Fibre Channel fabric connectivity solution to optimize data
availability and business continuity. In addition, BROCADE's management tools
help simplify the configuration and maintenance of the SAN environment with
centralized management.
