AOL was the first online service to really embrace the internet. The others were busy fooling around with "direct connections" to their own services.

The Excite merger was May 28, 1999 ... give it a modicum of time, before you pass judgement

Taking into account the per/ shr valuations of AOL and ATHM, and my perceived view of the future of broadband ... if I had to choose which company had the most to prove to me, it would be AOL... "hands down".

I believe one of the early press releases concerning the merger mentioned that a new E@H site was scheduled to be launched by mid-October.
