CheckFree Tops 700,000 Portfolios on APL/APL WRAP

Industry Milestone Reached By Leading Service Bureau Provider Of
Portfolio Management Systems

ATLANTA, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- CheckFree (Nasdaq: CKFR) announced today
that its client base now maintains more than 700,000 portfolios on the
CheckFree APL and APL WRAP systems. CheckFree Investment Services division is
the leading provider in outsourcing automated trading, portfolio performance
and accounting systems used by professional money managers and financial
advisors.
"Reaching the 700,000 portfolio milestone represents continued
double-digit growth in terms of the number of portfolios being added to our
system," said CheckFree Investment Services President Frank Polashock. "While
we have accomplished this feat with the addition of new clients and sustained
growth of existing business, CheckFree Investment Services is also helping its
clients offer additional products to their own customers."
"It is important we use this milestone and the recent acquisition of
Mobius Group as an opportunity to help our clients expand into new product and
service areas and by extension, enable them to garner even more business down
the road," said Polashock.
James K. Waller, senior vice president for CheckFree Investment Services,
said, "The APL system's scalability has enabled clients to leverage our
platform, thereby allowing them to broaden the range of financial products
they can offer their clients. We are witnessing explosive growth in the

I was thinking that CKFR would be up 2 today.

Me too. Disappointed. Volume seems to have semi-permanently gone into hibernation. The only good volume (1m+) CKFR has seen in the last couple months is to the downside.

While it was great that the stock rebounded so solidly up off $25 area, $32 seems to be a glass ceiling. I wonder how the stock would have done today if the Naz hadn't been up 77 points. Probably would have dropped 1-1/2 pts. Edit: CKFR paced the DJIA today, exactly. Both up 1.79%. Might as well be in a mutual fund. Glad I got that off my chest.

Where is the #@$%#%# announcement of Yahoo EBPP going live? If EBPP is this difficult, its a wonder anyone can do it.

Rob, upon looking at the chart, I see some bullish signs:

Slow Stochastics: According to the slow sto, we should have been down both yesterday and especially today. The general market undoubtedly helped to prevent that today, but in this relatively thinly traded stock, the stock is showing strength in resisting a normal dip back down.

MACD: Turning up to the plus side, for the first time in many months.

"Rising Wedge" formation? I'm not too knowledgable about wedges, but I think it's possible that the stock is forming a classic rising wedge. Draw a line from $25 to $32, and you have the upwardly rising wedge of the triangle. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the stock pop up to $37-38 within a week. OTOH, I may be just hoping.
