Airbus - Dow Jones
Airbus is offering to buy British Airways PLC's fleet of Boeing 757s in a move to encourage the airline to buy new Airbus aircraft, the Independent newspaper reported Monday. If the deal goes ahead, the U.K. newspaper said, the European aircraft manufacturer will take the old Boeing airliners in part exchange for an order of new Airbus planes. British Airways wants to buy as many as 50 new short-haul aircraft to replace its 757 fleet on routes from Britain to such destinations as Frankfurt, Rome and Paris, the paper said.
