Maybe I'm just a romantic, but this nation was built by small farmers -- Jefferson's heroes --- not subsistence but small commercial farmers. I think we should do everything we can to make the small farm economic (I'm talking farms with $1,000,000 invested, you know). But there are too many people hanging on, and most of them are very old. I would prefer for the government to buy lots of land and rent it out at auction. We should definitely not subsidize young guys getting into farming. We need to teach computers and networking in rural highschools.
