Steve you are wrong - the Fed is pumping liquidity into the system at an unparalleled record pace. this year is shaping up as a record year for coupon passes and the money thus created finds it's way into the market immediately, every time. i don't really know what the rationale behind this wide opening of the monetary spigot is, but it serves to inflate the bubble, of that there can be no doubt. since no-one is willing to prick it, it will just continue to expand. the bears are well and truly buggered....

"To rise another 500 points, an enormous amount of new money would have to be borrowed, and it doesn't seem that this kind of new money is available."

Someone must have borrowed some new money today, I guess. I wonder where they got the new money? I wasn't aware that any more new money was available for inflows.

One thing that certainly wasn't inflowing today was the Big Kahuna. Even Big Kahuna theories seemed not to be inflowing today. But tomorrow is another day.
