A campaign theme song for the brave new world of legalization:

WHITE RABBIT (G. Slick)

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
Call Alice
When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"

This is probably my favorite Heartbreakers song, what do you think?:

THE WAITING

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh baby don't it feel like heaven right now
Don't it feel like something from a dream
Yeah I've never known nothin' quite like this
Don't it feel like tonight might never be again
We know better than to try and pretend
Baby no one could'a ever told me 'bout this
I said yeah yeah

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Well yeah I might have chased a couple women around
All it ever got me was down
Then there were those that made me feel good
But never as good as I'm feeling right now
Baby you're the only one that's ever known how
To make me wanna live like I want to live now
I said yeah yeah

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you get one more yard
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Oh don't let it kill you baby, don't let it get to you
Don't let it kill you baby, don't let it get to you
I'll be your bleedin' heart, I'll be your cryin' fool
Don't let this go too far
Don't let it get to you

<< Probably not a lot of support for legalizing drugs at the same time the government is banning tobacco and guns. >>

Bill, honestly, has the government banned tobacco? Has the government banned guns? Did you have your right hand on a bible when you wrote that? <g>

The governments war against tobacco is working. People are quiting smoking in ever increasing numbers, and smoking is still legal.

Guns? Do you love guns? Do you wish that everyone had a gun in their car? Do you want to see more teenagers carry guns to school?

I own three guns. I don't want my freedom to possess a gun taken away. At the same time, I want to restrict criminals from buying guns. I want to see penalties for those committing crimes, with a gun, increased. Let's make it more painful for those who would use a weapon to commit a crime.

And..... let's stop supplying repeat offenders with legal help. Convicted felons should have to defend themselves without taxpayer funded lawyers. I work hard for a living. If I commit a crime, I have earned the right to have a good laywer because I have worked for it. Why do convicted felons get a free ride on my back?
