More GRIN news: By Chinita Anderson NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of Grand Toys International Inc. (GRIN) soared up to 60% Monday on news that it will introduce Furby Babies in North America on Aug. 31. Grand Toy Chief Executive and Chairman Steven Altro said industry insiders had already known the release date. Sean McGowan, an analyst at Gerard Klauer Mattison & Co., said he expects Furby Babies to be a "hot" product within the Furby toy line. David Leibowitz, an analyst at Burnham Securities, said the Montreal company distributes two of the most popular toys, Furby and Pokemon. "Any toy company which has the rights to two of this year's hottest toy products would likely generate investors' attention," he said. Leibowitz said he expects Furby Babies and Pokemon to boost Grand Toys' revenue. Shares of Grand Toys recently were up 2 1/4, or 31.6%, at 9 3/8 on Nasdaq volume of nearly 3.5 million versus average daily volume of 114,200. Earlier, the shares traded at a 52-week high of 11 1/2, surpassing the previous high of 11 set on Nov. 30.
