All,

Where is the profusion of 8-way Intel servers that were to be announced today?

Also, 10 questions with Drew:
agn3d.com

Sounds like they might be getting a foot in the door at Dell.

Pravin.

Michael,

<And now they have to make a profit and everyone is happy..;)>

Ain't that the truth! That's what I am most concerned about for the short term. I am very upbeat about AMDs prospects for year 2000 when 0.18 lets them sell at least 5Mu Athlons a quarter (without Dresden) but Q4 still looks shaky to me.

AMD has definitely lost 2 valuable months so far and they cannot afford to lose any more if they want to have a good Q4. As things stand right now, AMD is on the verge of losing the lucrative back to the school season. If AMD can't get a good number of K7 systems on retail shelves, kids will be going to school with Celron or PIII 450/500 PCs. Christmas looks better but I would not underestimate Intel's marketing muscle - especially if there are any more unanticipated delays.

Looking forward to good system availability in retail ....

Chuck

Michael, Wait and see the spin they place on this. They will carp about hard to find mobos. Well what about the critical parts shortage of Intel chip sets? let them smoke that for a while.
Looks like AMD has an ace or two lying flat on the table for when Intel releases faster CPUs they turn over another ace.
