GE Capital takes equity in BirlaSoft

The New Delhi-based Birlasoft Ltd, a member of the CK Birla Group which is into software development and consulting services, today said GE Capital had taken an undisclosed amount of equity in the company.

"We have given our software business a renewed thrust and focus. The equity placement from GE Capital is an acceptance of the strengths of Birlasoft and a reiteration of the future they see in the company. We are pleased to have GE Capital as our partner in our plans to grow into a $200m company in the next five years," said C K Birla, chairman, CK Birla Group.

Birlasoft, which recently completed a major restructuring exercise, has recruited several senior executives. The company, which had revenues of Rs 138 crore in '98-99, plans investments of Rs 12 crore this fiscal.
