Here the little ones are called labuyo and the bigger ones simply sili verde. I heard somewhere, may not be true, that the little ones are indigenous and the bigger green ones were brought over from Mexico by the Spanish, so they may indeed be jalapenos.

If I want roasted peppers, I have someone else do it. Outside. Not a good task for an asthmatic. I grow both varieties, though, and usually use them fresh.
