Guess again. Been there done that. I've got patents. More pending. I've also been hired to expert witness an patent case by a DC patent law firm representing a manufacturer defending itself in an infringement case. All electronics high-tech issues, not some wet dream for a silly widget. I've been sr. staff at large aerospace firm, got designs flying on the shuttle, etc.
That said, sure, lots of decisions are made based on reliability of supply. But you don't get to run with the big dogs if every anecdotal claim by a competing technology house causes you to quake in your boots, rethink your invested millions, etc. In many cases, the golden rule, not the firstest-gets-the-mostest is what rules the day on products with a short market life-cycle.
No way to know what the real deal is, but feels more like froth than substance. Hope not, after all, I'm long!
