When Chris was designing sewage treatment plants, it was a similar conversational stopper, at parties. It was probably exacerbated by his lack of irony, but he was very sincere about his sewage treatment plants, and was very good at it, too.

Niche market I suppose. Although Tang in sufficient quantities will cover the taste of just about anything.

She didn't smell funny, like TC's date Now mind you, the poor dear was not hygienically challenged. It was merely that she often did not have time to finish at the lab, go home and shower and change, and then come out. The last straw was a week in which she was working with some horrendous sulfide or other, which imparted to her the distinct aroma of rotten eggs. She eventually married another organic chemist, who I suppose was accustomed to this issue.
