Australia's Telstra Launches New CDMA
Mobile Network

MELBOURNE -- Telstra Corp. (TLS), Australia's largest
telecommunications company, Tuesday said its new Code Division
Multiple Access, or CDMA, mobile network will become commercially
available from Aug. 25, 1999.

The service will initially only be available across the greater metropolitan
areas of Sydney and Melbourne.

Telstra estimates the total cost of the nationwide CDMA network at
A$600 million, with the majority of that to be spent in the 1999, 2000 and
2001 fiscal years.

Telstra plans to launch the CDMA service across Adelaide, Brisbane,
Perth and Canberra during September, as well as across a number of
regional locations during October.

When completed, the new network will cover over 95% of Australia's
population, Telstra said in a statement.

"Our CDMA network will ideally position Telstra to cater for the growing
mobile communications needs of Australians as we move into the 2lst
century," Dick Simpson, managing director of Telstra's mobile and wireless
division, Telstra OnAir, said.

Telstra's fiscal year ends June 30.

With a sense of timing like that, you should call yourself CobaltRed. <ggg>

Let's see: you cashed out of QCOM calls in January, days before QCOM's huge run - the stock tripled and more ever since - WOW!

Few people could outdo you in that department.
