Ron, thread, LSI upgraded by Bear Sterns:

LSI Logic Corp. (LSI) rose 1, or 1.8
percent, to 57 1/2. The No. 1 maker
of custom semiconductors was rated
``buy' in new coverage by analyst
Charles Boucher at Bear, Stearns &
Co.

Couldn't find out any words why, but searched only briefly.

Ron: With the exception of the obscenities and some (but not all) of the personal attacks, I found Shane's prescence on this (and all) SI thread to be top-rate. Clearly he has superior knowledge, and I always look forward to his returning to this thread and sharing the wealth of knowledge that he has. He has gone on hiatus on three past occasions, so I would hope to see him reappear again.

I think that the FPGA/PLD v. ASSP/Embedded FPGA debate will be an ongoing topic on this thread as well as XLNX and possibly the ALTR thread. If the market see that LSI is prevailing, one can expect to see LSI selling in the neighborhood of 8 to 10 times sales, which could mean a sales price of 160 some time in 2000.
