"Bought" vs. "acquired"

Oilbabe - as I understand this, "bought" means a direct purchase in
the open market; "acquired" means obtaining the shares by other means,
say, from another party by some deal with it. According to Webster,
"acquire" - to get as one's own: to come in possession or control of
by unspecified means. But maybe these words mean just the same to those who use them for describing insiders activity. English is my second language though...

Acquired is usually exercising options -- has less weight. Bought is an open market buy.
