Hi Check, The following adds to the ELK release: Hilton Petroleum to complete Bellevue 1-17R well Hilton Petroleum Ltd HTP Shares issued 18,382,792 Aug 23 close $3.65 Tue 24 Aug 99 News Release Mr. Donald Busby reports A decision has been made by the participants in the Bellevue No. 1-17R replacement well at East Lost Hills, to complete the well after drilling approximately 180 feet into the Temblor formation. The well was drilled to a total depth of 17,428 feet. The well again experienced an inflow of gas and the decision was made to suspend drilling, log and complete. During drilling pressures in excess of 15,000 per square inch were encountered and gas was flared. The Bellevue No. 1-17R replacement well is over 650 feet northeast from the Bellevue No. 1 well and appears to be structurally flat. The operator has completed logging and plans to set a production liner immediately. From well logging the porosity appears to be greater than originally anticipated. The completion procedures are expected to commence as soon as possible and thereafter an extensive production test will be implemented. The production test should provide meaningful and important information on reservoir characteristics including wellbore deliverability. The data from the blowout at the Bellevue No. 1 well, taken in conjunction with the current information from the Bellevue No. 1-17R suggests the possibility that the drainage volume may be substantially larger than the vertical penetration of the Temblor formation to date. The Berkely East Lost Hills No. 1 well, a 2.23-mile step-out to the northwest should spud by the end of this week. The casing design for this well has been modified from the seven-inch casing that was set at the Bellevue No. 1-17R well. The setting of the modified casing, to the top of the Temblor, is designed to allow the well to be drilled deeper into the Temblor formation. The entire Temblor formation is estimated to be approximately 2,700 feet thick on the East Lost Hills structure.
