"Net2Phone

Shares of Net2Phone (NTOP: news, msgs) surged Monday as the
Internet telephony specialist's quiet period neared its end.

The company, which has backing from Softbank, General Electric and
America Online, saw its shares climb 11 5/8, or 33 percent, to 47 1/8.

Compaq (CPQ: news, msgs) recently said it's working with Net2Phone
on bundling its Internet calling software in computers shipped overseas.
Also, Sprint (FON: news, msgs) has been testing a discount calling
service using Net2Phone technology, according to press reports.

The company's quiet period ends Tuesday, when Chief Operating Officer
David Greenblatt is scheduled to appear at the Telecom Business
convention in New York.

Shares of Net2Phoneparent IDT (IDTC: news, msgs) gained 3 5/16, or
17.6 percent, to 22 1/8 on Monday.

IDT owns about 27 million shares of Net2Phone. Based on Net2Phone's
current value of about $47 per share, IDT shares in the Internet phone
specialist alone are worth a stock price of roughly 40.

Currently, however, IDT is trading at 22 1/8, its closing price on Monday."
