THE INTERNET & CASINO REPORT
Grand Toys (GRIN)
Tuesday, August 24th
Our other buy for this Monday was Shares were purchased at $8 3/8 and again at $9 7/8. The stock closed at $10 (+40%) Mentioned last week this stock has caught fire on the back of the Nintendo Pokemon craze. Perhaps it is because I have become more alert to the phenomenon but I am seeing these little creatures everywhere. Pokemon the movie, "coming to a theater near you- November 12th." Pokemon lunch pails, Pokemon stickers, Pokemon beach balls. It's posted on the door of the 7-Eleven,"We have Pokemon Trading Cards." Grand Toys is well positioned to profit from the insanity. The company did $39 million in 1998 revenues and has a market capitalization of just $15.8 million. From a valuation perspective it would not be unreasonable for this stock to trade up to $100/share. That share price would value the company at $158 million dollars or roughly 2.5x this years' estimated sales. Before you poo-poo this notion please observe that Pokemon reseller, 4 Kids Entertainment (KIDE), has run up over 300% since July 1st to $68 3/4, giving 4 Kids a market capitalization of $328 million and allowing it to trade at roughly 5x this years' projected earnings. Now, we are not implying that GRIN will trade to $100 or $200, what we are saying is that the stock is extremely undervalued relative to its competition. And there is more to this story...GRIN has a float of 300,000 shares, that's 1/3 the float of online broker Siebert Financial (SIEB). That stock jumped from $12 to $70 in three days during. February. The small float makes GRIN a otential rocketship. It also makes GRIN a dangerous stock to play, as shares can move down as fast as they move up. Other notes: After the close today Grand Toys was mentioned on CNBC. The company will be introducing "baby Furbies" on August 31st and the WCW talking wrestler figures during September. And notice also a couple of other Pokemon stocks and their performance. Topps (TOPP)- Pokemon trading cards.
