VRSN is a gorilla. Market potential is little understood.

Bruce,

No, I didn't even know Tom Siebel was on the boob tube.

He personally claimed that he and Larry are not only good friends - they're neighbors.

That's a dissapointment. I can see two egos clashing in the media if they hate each other, but it makes both of them look even more silly to realize what they're doing and LIKING each other!

Siebel also stated he understood that Oracle's entry into the space has been delayed until sometime in 'summer 2000'.

I guess you get that kind of information when you're a neighbor. :) I can imagine the conversation across the backyard fence. "Hey fella! Tell me when the next release is gonna happen or I'll pour weed killer on your daisies."

In the meantime, Siebel holds claim to 68 percent of the world's market in their specialty.

Can you be more specific about that?

The following is from an AMR Research press release dated August 23: "Customer Relationship Management applications represent 17 percent of the surveyed companies' enterprise application budgets. And despite the hype, the market still lacks a prominent vendor. Although Siebel Systems leads with roughly 17 percent of the market based on revenue, only seven companies out of the 800 surveyed use Siebel products."
