The Olympus uses both SmartMedia and CompactFlash

"32MB SmartMedia removable memory card included, storing up to 332 images with fast write times; additional 8, 16, and 32MB cards are also available
Dual Slot design provides a SmartMedia slot and an
accessory CF slot-for future technologies or use as a secondary slot for CF memory"

Why not add a Memory Stick slot also?

Derek,

re: The New Olympus Camera

That is huge news!!!

Guess that they left in a SmartMedia slot as courtesy to those loyal Olympus fans who have previously invested in SM cards for prior generation point-and-shoot digital cameras.

I was quite intimidated by the Fuji and Olympus presence until today's announcement. They have captured the attention (and $$$) of many digital camera enthusiasts at the expense of CompactFlash. To be honest, I have been envious of their designs, especially the Fuji MX 2700 and the Olympus Camedia series.

I think this is a major step. It appears by the model name that this is a consumer SLR (non-prof.) follow-up to the point-and-shoot C2000. This is the type of announcement I can get really excited about.

Cannot wait for the "Canon Digital Rebel", a Minolta digital SLR offering and the migration of Fuji to CF with its first consumer SLR. With the holidays within the radar scope I think these announcements will be forthcoming.

Yahoo!!!

This is gigantic news!!!
