<<There are some things that a man just can't stand for, Ish, and replacing a hardwood floor with vinyl is one of them.>>

No kidding, especially since wife wanted me to buy the place because of the wood floor. It's a sandblasted planking that's supposed to last 100 years. Has some texture and looks neat.

I want to tear up our rugs and lay down hardwood, but first I want to replace the countertops with corian. I have all these projects in mind now that CW's off. Dan will do the floors but it will be an unpleasant experience for all. So if I can afford it, I'll have it done. He laid parquet in our old house in the kitchen and living room and did a wonderful job-- did most of it while I was at my mother's breaking up the house after her death and arranging the auction etc. It was a very sweet welcome home present, but once I got home, he didn't get around to finishing it for a while. THe pressure was off and he'd already gotten all the praise and rewards. No more motivation.
