Bombardier reports increased revenues for quarter
MONTREAL (CP) -- Transportation giant Bombardier Inc. on Tuesday reported second-quarter profits of $169.1 million, up from $122.7 million for the same quarter a year ago.
The profit rise was 38 per cent, thanks particularly to the company's good performance in the aerospace and transportation sectors.

Consolidated revenues hit $3.2 billion for the quarter ended July 31, up from $2.5 billion reported for the same period last year.

Robert Brown, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement the company's order backlog grew by 40 per cent.

The backlog at the end of the second quarter was $26.0 billion, up from $18.6 billion for the same quarter a year earlier. The latest backlog was two-thirds in the aerospace sector and one-third in transportation.

Aircraft deliveries were up and Bombardier Transportation experienced increased activity in North America and Europe.
