Nelson, I've been called a Linux guru.
watman.com shows some of my advanced multidisplay Linux systems. Now if you want to find about about the latest and greatest Redhat release. You can buy a copy from linuxmall for 1.89 and for a 1.99 you can buy it from cheapbytes.com I have a copy and I'll can burn one for you for lets say 150 bucks. You have my permission to dupe it as many times as you want and sell it for anything you want. Now you can also buy the Redhat boxed set for 59 to 79 and get some commercial apps and an installation manual. But I don't use any of the provided commercial apps. I do use several commercial Linux apps that I purchase separately. They cost 200 to 400 dollars per machine. I currently have six Linux boxes running as a cluster in my redundant Electronic Direct Access Trading system. I don't use Linux because it's cheap. I use Linux because it's capability is tens of thousands of dollars cheaper than any competing solution.

So Nelson, if you don't care how a company is going to create revenue to support a given stock price, Then I guess one can consider a lottery ticket an investment also.

As to Linux support. Once Linux has been installed a couple of times, required support is virtually zero. Adding a new application may cause problems that most likely have to do with having compatible libraries.

The current Linux Journal has an article written by and advanced user of computers. He compared the installation of borg 98 and Redhat Linux. On balance they have similar ease or difficulty of installation. But if you have older hardware, Linux rules.

So Nelson I hope you are lucky.
