Greg, I guess you didn't read the punchline. The editor recommended the Dell PIII system over the IBM Athlon system to consumers! The moral of this story is that it'll take more than a hyped-up CPU to save AMD from bankruptcy <gg>

Greg Nus, why should we weep? In that PC Magazine article, the Intel-based Dell won Editor's Choice over the two Athlon-based machines. The performance advantage of the Athlon PCs was a lot smaller than AMD and the independent web sites predicted.

Of course, you could cry foul and call ZDNet unfairly biased toward Dell and Intel, but then you'd be the one doing the weeping, not us "Intelnuts."

The August 22nd edition of a big British news paper has a full page ad for a 600 Mhz Athlon PC form Advent Computer. It is being sold at PC World (that describes itself as a computer superstore) for 1499 Lbs with 256 MB RAM, 27 GB HD, 6x DVD, 32 MB TNT2, ...

In large letters it says, "The Fastest PC Processor In The World". And, "AVAILABLE TO TAKE AWAY TODAY".

Well, just an FYI. When Athlon shows up in Sardinia, I'll let you know. They are big on the K6-III over here.

Pravin.

bad nus - Re: " Here is more read it and weep material for Paul and the rest of the Intelnuts"

Here's some bad NEWS for you that you can WEEP for - although I bet you are happy and proud - your $29.50 and $27.50 investment in AMD from about 15 months ago has deteriorated to $18 3/4 - for losses of $10.75 and $8.75 per share !

Good Investment - NUS - READ IT AND WEEP !
