Believe it or not, AOL will make a larger profit in the UK with the free model than they have been able to make there. They will sign up many more subscribers and sell additional advertisers.

They now have a local line charge kick back coming as well.

V-man,
That's my point. All we've been hearing is that the free European model would be the deathknell to AOL. Ad revenue and line charges are revenue to AOL. If the Europeans wanna call it free, oh well. We both know how free "free" is.

Speaking of a "free model", Leo Hinderey of T's Broadband and Internet Services was just interviewed by David Faber on CNBC. Doesn't sound like negotiations between AOL and T are going well. Hindrey indicated that AOL's business model was a dinosaur, charging for services that others were giving away. Also indicated that broadband discussions would have to include ATHM.
