RTev, I spent most of today trying to come up with some solid reasons why MSFT would hire Belluzzo to run their interactive group. I could only come up with one or two solid explanations, based on my limited understanding of who the heck this guy is. I'm with you: "Who the hell is this guy? He ran an unsuccessful company for a couple years in an industry that's not related at all," said Bruce Kasrel, an analyst at Forrester Research. "Someone who knows how to build a business around media properties' would be a better choice." This was part of what was running through my mind today, even though the Market *seemed* to react positively to the appointment. But as I thought about it a little more one thought became clear. If MSFT was planning on spinning this group off into the Market through an IPO as a separate business, Belluzzo might be the right kind of executive for the job. Though he seems to be out of touch with the creative side of the job requirements, my thought is that Gates and Ballmer will probably provide assistance/guidance in this department on an as needed basis <g>. So the key for Belluzzo'a position is to make sure he can manage the process of getting the business out to market, and manage the various parts of the organization that need to be managed as the team strives to establish themselves as an independent company. *THIS IS NOT A TRACKING STOCK ISSUES, THIS IS ABOUT BUILDING A SEPARATE COMPANY AND TAKING IT PUBLIC*. Again, I don't know a whole lot about this fellow, so my thoughts are pure conjecture. You know the organization better than anyone I've talked to, I was really hoping you could solve this puzzle for me <vbg>!!! Teflon
