What they have done for the world is convince many who have no other clue that some of the flakiest software in the history of computing is the state of the art. It just ain't so.

However, it has been amusing to me over the years to watch the repeated indignities and abuse people will suffer at the hands of Windows for the promise of ease of use. Microsoft shovels cr*p on their customers with the same regard a drug dealer has for a crackhead. That is only because Windows users behave like crackheads, chasing the thrill of a new release, more useless features, or maybe just some fixes to their bug-festooned system software, which despite all hope inexorably rots from the inside further with each release. People get what they deserve, I guess.
