This [MER/NITE] announcement has interesting implications for NITE's cost structure

Paul,

There has been much analysis on the YHOO thread this afternoon and evening about the cost savings that could be generated by the MER/NITE deal.

The numbers and methods of analysis vary, but one of the lower amounts stated was a bottom line benefit of about 8 cents a share (beginning in the 4Q). This analysis assumed that current clearing costs are about $1.80/trade, versus MER/NITE clearing costs of $1/trade (per the article). messages.yahoo.com If true, this would of course be quite beneficial. Other, still larger, supposed savings have been calculated on YHOO, but I question their validity.

Perhaps some analyst, somewhere, will run the numbers and report.
