I do have respiratory allergies like nobody's business. But living in places with or without the wall-to-wall made zippoh by way of difference. To me a place that doesn't have the sound-softening character of heavy textile on the floors and/or walls has a clinical, un-homey feel. 'Course I don't live in tropical climes, where an "opener" dwelling plan seems to work nicely. I remember a very nice apartment in Anguilla ... the lack of carpeting was redeemed by the ample square footage and the "airy" build. In these latitudes the guiding paradigm for a comfy dwelling is "vault".
