I just call him an opportunist.

And more power to him... he made a lot of money out there on the lecture circuit with Y2K and established quite a following.

Who, among us, would have ever heard of Peter De Jager, Jim Lord, or many of the other Y2K "gurus" had it not been for this event??

I can only think of two people who had established a public reputation before Y2K, Ed Yourdon and Ed Yardeni.
