sony projects playstation II sales of 55 million per year. i have been looking for a figure to tie that too. here it is. i do not think nintendo has ever shipped this many units.
remember pII uses 8x more rambus memory than nintendo 64.

Foster City, California, Aug. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Sony Corp., the No. 1 maker of video-game consoles, will spend $150 million to market its PlayStation system in the U.S. in the year ending in March, said Kaz Hirai, a top Sony executive.

Sony plans radio, television and movie-theater ads, as well as promotions for a ``Greatest Hits' line of low-priced software published by Sony and others, said Hirai, president and chief operating officer of Sony Computer Entertainment America. It's also working on marketing alliances with consumer-products companies similar to its current promotions with cereal maker General Mills Inc.

The campaign comes as No. 3 console maker Sega Enterprises Ltd. readies its technologically superior Dreamcast machine for U.S. release next month. Sony is still working on a successor for the PlayStation, which was introduced about four years ago. Consumers historically have proved reluctant to buy old systems and software while waiting for new technology to be introduced.

``We are embarking on our most extensive and expansive marketing blitz ever,' said Hirai, speaking at a Ziff Davis Inc. video-game conference. ``We see this as an investment in the future of the overall PlayStation brand.'

Sony plans ads targeting children on TV networks such as Fox Entertainment Group Inc.'s Fox Kids Network and Time Warner Inc.'s Cartoon Network. It also will help promote latest- generation PlayStation games from software publishers such as Capcom Co. and Namco Ltd., Hirai said.

Sony and rival Nintendo Co. recently slashed prices on console systems to about $100 from $130. The companies hope to stimulate demand among casual game players to keep sales strong.

Sony expects to sell 7 million PlayStation units in North America in its fiscal year ending in March, though that forecast was made before the price cuts and may be too low, Hirai said. As of June 30, Sony had shipped 21.5 million PlayStation units in the region and a total of 58.4 million worldwide.

Uncle,
two quick readings, I don't get that they claim rising & falling edge triggering is the essence of the patent, but rather the way they use both clock edges, ie the circuit implementation of the double-edge clocking technique, a wholly different matter. Just an unstudied opinion, but you see the distinction? Tnahx for the interesting link!
