Chris, AOF got caught with too many US bonds at the time Greenspin took the dollar lower and the bond market took bond prices lower. DSI moved quicker into foreign bonds and didn't get wacked as hard. I fear that Alliance may wait until the handwriting on the wall has scribbled across their faces before they change course.

Odd you should mention Ligand. I just did a buy/write against the $10 strike price in my IRA income portfolio. I got a point for these out of the money calls, which works out to a standstill over 30% with a lot of upside still in the issue.

My favorite income issues right now are AOL and Amazon. I am selling at the money puts on AOL and buying 15 point out of the money puts. On Amazon, I am selling at the money calls and buying 15 point out of the money calls. All Leaps. These are being executed as we speak, so I report later this afternoon.

I think the money center banks are the ones with the most risk, but the govt. will probably bail them out if they can, as they usually do. So, the internut banks are possibilities. I like them and the brokers, but am not buying puts right now. I would like the Xmas lies to get started first.
