scott...dell close... my main concern with recent price action was high volume no movement...usually indicative of selling or short selling....this afternoon the ask size started to diminish...believe most short positions covered(i hope hdl closed the long term multi split short position)....the close was outside of the trading channel, and could bring pure technical buy signals into play...remember the technical aspects drive the computer buy programs both in the indices and the individual issues....one of two scenarios at this point, tommorrow may give indication...either fall back into the 40-48 channel or quick move on volume to 52......technically it has not been this strong since january.....still show concern for irratic market mindset, in that stocks are moving in waves....would exercise caution...i wrote jan 55 calls...which even if stock advances would be offset by my feb put sales...my strategy is if at above 55 in jan, cover my 55 and 60 puts and write higher or same and further out strike to buy back call positions....don't compare dell with qcom, which is in a strong momentum mode....dell emulating hopefully the intc and msft recent move...strong volume without spike...only technical negative are those that believe the gap must be filled...and it usually fills! some strong news from the conference will support the technicals....
