Lucinos,

I have never gone more than 2 years without replacing a disk drive but it is usually because I am out of space. My 8.4 gb hasn't made it two years and I only have 700 mb left after getting rid of things I don't need. IMHO disk drives manufactured today will be too small to be useful five years from now but your self-destruct plan would help the antique value of those that remained.<g>
