FAST Multimedia?s ?601? System - 8/25/99

FAST Multimedia USA of Woodinville, WA has '601,? a non-linear video-editing system that uses MPEG-2 compression and offers DVD compliant video output. Once video has been encoded into the system, it can be edited for content and then can be 'downconverted' to DVD compliant MPEG-2 video files for use in DVD authoring. This is the first system of its kind to offer high end video-editing and DVD compliant video creation on the same PC. Other systems are separated between the video editor and the DVD tool and 99 percent of other non-linear video-editing systems use M-JPEG compression for video-editing which causes poor DVD quality because it must be converted/transcoded. The '601' system will provide consumer to broadcast users the ability to make DVDs from the same desktop for a fraction of the cost of what you would pay for a video editor and a MPEG-2 encoding system.
