bundashus- I liked the lead in to that article from Internet Daily- ** AltaVista signs 225,000 for free Net access AltaVista said its FreeAccess no-cost Internet access service has registered a quarter million users in the first two weeks. Chief Executive Rod Schrock said as the pace continues, the company will exceed its goal of a million users within a year. AltaVista said it has also taken a 19.9 percent ownership position in 1stUp.com, the company which developed the technology for the free access service and the MicroPortal, a "gateway" to the Net which floats on a user's desktop. Terms of the investment in the San Francisco company weren't released.
