Martin, I appreciate your prior two posts and agree despite my small panic attack last night. A roll out with a system that works as expected is far better than a splashy quick rollout with flaws. On handset #'s, well I guess I would rather have 10,000 handsets in the hands of those who will use the heck out of the sat mode rather than 100,000 handsets in the hands of those who will use it only on occasion. I strongly suspect AirTouch will carefully place the early handsets with the former group.

I think much of our frustration stems from the fact that many of us also own Lor for which we had higher hopes by this time. Your arguments and logic applies equally to Lor. I didn't really buy Lor/G to sell in 1999. More like 2003 - 2005. Seeing black instead of red on ones portfolio however does make one feel good and I want to feel good.

<...Jeanette and she was irritated that of course we are in the northern hemisphere so we mean Autumn in the northern hemisphere, and she was certain no Australian could be dissed by using the term Fall to mean October, November, so I backed off)...> Well, Jeanette is wrong. Firstly, it's not that an upside-downer feels dissed, it's that they get concerned by indications of wobbly thinking.

People who think globally and about a system launch in the next month or three don't think in terms of seasons, they think in terms of dates or months. It is intuitive to them. Okay, call me picky, but that's how marketing blunders happen. Cultural ignorance and culturecentric points of view. Another concern is that she gets irritated! Why get irritated? Just say "Well, I mean USA autumn". But why not "Well, I mean the beginning of October".

Maurice [Having a good vent!!]

PS: If the slipping schedule decrease the immediate reward, it also decreases the total reward. It is plain bad! Sure we don't want to launch an inadequate system, but just in terms of return on investment, every day is a loss.
