Elizabeth, my apologies in advance for presuming that you are a female. But if your parents got is right, maybe the males here could learn a lesson or two. When I was a kid, I totally aced the "Iowa" and Stanford" tests. "99%+" was the only rating I ever got. So when my son went to school, all he knew was that he had something going in his favor. At least until they gave him the "Gifted Childrens Exam". He didn't sleep well that night and when he came home he was "kicking the walls". He was sure that he hadn't passed it nor even done as well as a brick. He was right. A few days later, a wonderful lady called me to say that my son had totally trashed his exam. She also said that they couldn't believe it and that they had called him aside and tested him again. Comment: When my son was <2 years old I mentioned something from a movie named "Harvey" where James Stewart was asked as a small child " to be successful you must be either "VERY, VERY SMART" or "VERY VERY NICE". My son looked up and .. without the slightest hesitation .. said "I choose NICE!". The lady said that, unfortunately, my son was 3 IQ points short of making it into the "gifted childrens" program. But before I could say anything, she said, "but .. Mr. Freeman, your son was so VERY, VERY NICE" (quote .. "so VERY, VERY NICE" .. ) that that "we" decided to let him enter the gifted children's program with full privileges." Thank God for old movies, James Stewart and good people. And for SNDK .. patron Saint of people with faith in what is good and right, Saint for Ausdauer the Deserveth. And of those with strong claws. Craig
