Company Press Release
Identix Announces Release of BioLogon 2.0 Software and BioCard
Provides Client, Server Security Architecture Through Fingerprint and Smart Cards
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1999--Identix Incorporated (AMEX:IDX - news), a leading provider worldwide of biometric verification and live-scan systems, announced today that its BioLogon(TM) 2.0 software and BioCard(TM) smart card application are now being shipped through OEMs such as Key Tronic (Nasdaq:KTCC - news), Cherry Electronics, SCM Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SCMM - news), Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS - news) and the Company's channel distribution partners.

The commercial release follows extensive testing at approximately 100 test sites, including Fortune 500 companies. BioLogon 2.0 and BioCard, the smart card application, both developed by the Identix IT Security Division, Identicator Technology, Inc., combine a user-friendly interface with biometric fingerprint technology to secure client and server applications.

BioLogon 2.0 is designed to enhance security both to a user's PC and to the network. BioCard allows biometric verification on any network through the use of a smart card. In addition, BioCard can be used in combination with BioLogon 2.0 software for an enhanced level of security by requiring users to present multi-factor authentication such as user names, smart cards and fingerprints. The administrator also has the capability to control user access, workstations, domain servers and user groups as to where, when and how users access data within the enterprise.

Identix Chairman & CEO Randall C. Fowler commented, ''The release of BioLogon 2.0 software from Beta testing provides enterprise systems the ability to increase the security of their networks. Beta testing our product allowed us to better meet the needs and requirement of our customers. The introduction of the smart card application provides the ability to operate either independently as a stand alone security solution or in combination with the DFR-200 fingerprint reader. The combination of the BioLogon and smart card solution adds a tremendous benefit by tightening the security within an enterprise network.''

Identix Vice President IT Security Division Grant Evans said, ''The features and functions that BioLogon 2.0 software offer have been significantly enhanced over the original BioLogon 1.0 version, shipped in September 1998. With the enhanced capabilities for network security, the systems administrators have a complete set of easy-to-use management tools for implementing and enforcing security policies, including the elimination of passwords. BioLogon 2.0 was designed to provide our customers with a complete network security solution and we believe that it has fulfilled this need.''
