Cary,

On CNBC this morning, Maria reported that Merrill Lynch was upgrading MU, in part because a shortage of DUV steppers prevented the industry from ramping up as fast as they'd like to.

2 points:

If the DRAM guys are truly out of capacity, this sector is going to fly for a long time to come yet.

Although the DRAM guys have been able to get away with steppers rather than scanners, if Papken can't sell his scanners into this sector at this time, he really ought to go.

Perhaps this news is the SVGI catalyst that we've been long awaiting here.

Ian.

P.S. If anyone has access to the ML report, I'd really like to see the actual section talking about the DUV stepper shortage rather than rely on Maria's reporting of it alone.
