Woops! communication failure. I've said nothing about DDR suit, far from it. I was attempting in several posts, including those allluding to TTL (RTL!) days, to voice my opinion that RMBS's double-clock patentability claim, if they have such a claim, would more likely be based on a particular implementation of the concept, not the concept of double-edge clocking per se. I took the Tate interview whereshe asked about their clocking technique like this:
(suppose GM instead of RMBS)
She: I understand you feel that part of this year's market advantage for GM cars is the Red Delicious color you have developed.
He: Yes, its a real breakthru and etc etc.
She: Well I understand Ford also has Red paint this year.
He: Well we haven't gotten any color chips yet to examine, but we will aggressively defend our patented color.<end>

GM's specific Red color may well be protected, but not the concept of a red car.
As I said before, Patents are viewed in general as a recipe for a license to steal, reverse engineer, or otherwise modify just enough to escape enforceable claims of infringement. You disclose as little info as possible until you have to, because after you file the full package, its only the head start in timing that you've got in your favor. (Unless there's no prior art on point)
