Heck, twister, I don't know. Often an up day is followed by a down day. About all we can be sure of is that the price will fluctuate.

I'm not sure what you WOULD like my posts to look like. I'm no technical analyst, so I'm not much help to those trying to time things. I do think I have a little bit of a knack for recognizing the equivalent of "money lying on the ground (TM)" like SUNW was for much of the past few years. I don't think SUNW is in that position now, but I do still believe there's growth ahead, and I've bought more shares recently (in the high 60's), so I must believe it still has room to run.

I took a beating in October, '97 along with a lot of folks, so I can't claim to be especially clever when it comes to stocks. And I'm one of the few people you'll find (especially among those who live in Austin, as I do) who is willing to admit that they've bought and sold Dell at a _loss_ in the past (although I again have some and am doing better this time). My second largest position right now after SUNW is AHP, so I definitely know pain. In short, I don't claim to be a stock guru.

So why might I have at least a little bit of credibility? And does it even matter? After all, everybody is free to disagree with what I say, and I _encourage_ everyone to form their own conclusions and make their own decisions. No, I _demand_ it! I certainly do not intend any of this to be investment advice, as I hope I've made clear!

Well, believe it or not I do have some qualifications. I have a substantial background in computers, both academic and applied. In fact, I suspect I was programming and using computers before a lot of the folks visiting this thread were born. Furthermore, I attended the ACM '97 50th anniversary meeting on the future of computing, and listened to many of the great minds in the field (and Microsoft's contributor to that presentation -- Myhrvold) speak of ubiquitous computing, overlaid on a fabric of bandwidth. That's pretty much the vision I see Sun implementing, and I think it's a valid vision. I attended last year's Sun annual meeting and met Scott McNealy and other attendees. I've got several Sun's, several PC's, and some other computers here with me, as well as assorted software, and I even know how to use some of this stuff <g>. I have a big enough position in SUNW that I pay attention to developments.

If there's anything in that background you would prefer to talk about, let me know and I'll try to oblige.

But mostly I'm here because I find it entertaining to talk to the people I find here. I will admit that sometimes there's not much substance in the thread (my postings as well as those of others), but let's have a little fun, ok?

And if you're going to jump into shark infested waters, don't be surprised if the sharks come around to nip at you.

BTW, as I recall the reason I recently gave some information about my average price is that YOU asked. There didn't seem to be much harm in responding, so I did. I make no secret of the fact that I'm pretty committed to SUNW, but for privacy reasons have tried to maintain at least a little mystery about the level of that commitment. After all, I'm using my real name here. I don't intend to gloat, but am not above the occasional friendly jab -- it's the competitor in me.

JMHO, as always. Really.
