That deal never made sense in light of what happened right after the deal.

- Siemens announced the formation of a US based group to go after the same opportunity and data networking in general.
- 3Com announced a deal with Microsoft to do similar things on the LAN side of this.
- 3Com bought NBX Corp.

All these things happened "around" that time or shortly afterwards. I know for sure Siemens was pissed about the 3Com/MSFT relationship, this was public knowledge.

Btw, I don't think the 3Com/MSFT relationship went anywhere. It might be dead??? who knows.

I think the recent publicity of this is just BS coverage. The reality is usually different than the press reports.
